Die Künstlerin hat sich als eine der wichtigsten Stimmen ihrer Generation etabliert und sowohl mit orchestral unterfüttertem Hip-Hop (das mit dem Mercury Prize prämierte Album "Sometimes I Might Be Introvert") überzeugt wie auch mit Sounds, die dem 90er-Conscious-Rap gerecht werden ("No Thank You"). Mit der EP "Drop 7" zielte Simz schließlich auf den Dancefloor. "Lotus" kommt jetzt mit einer langen Liste an Gästen: Moses Sumney, Miraa May, Wretch 32, Cashh, Michael Kiwanuka, Yussef Dayes, Sampha, Lydia Kitto, Yukimi Nagano (Little Dragon), sowie Obongjayar und Moonchild Sanelly wirkten mit.
